It's official !!! The Barry Sheene Festival of Speed is hosting Round 1 of the Australian Sidecar Championships for Classic, Post Classic and Modern F1 and F2 classes.

The Barry Sheene Memorial Feature Race

The Barry Sheene Memorial Feature Race will this year be contested over 2 heats, with one heat on Saturday and the other on Sunday. The fastest 40 riders on pre-1982 bikes from qualifying will be invited to race. There'll be the tantalising prospect of a huge grid of Period 4 and 5 bikes carving each other up through the landscaped hills and contours of Eastern Creek. Robbie Phillis, Mr Superbike will show the way around on hisall new Katana  dicing with other exotic machines like the Honda CB900/1100R, Yamaha TZ two strokes, Irving Vincents, T-Rex Hondas, MacIntyre Matchless G50, the chest thumping Kawasaki Z1000s, and all of them playing along to the screaming banshee wail of a Suzuki RG500 soundtrack this race will be the premier event of the weekend.

Warwick Nowland - Current vs Past Champions

2000 & 2002 World Endurance Champion Warwick Nowland will be straddling the Keith Higgs P&M Kawasaki and taking on the past champions for honours in the premier class. Stepping back in time onto the big, heavy machinery of the 70s and 80s is a tough challenge that Warwick Nowland has accepted with trepidation. The P&M Kawasaki is a big brute compared to modern day machinery but in 2010 Warwick took it to within a handful of seconds to the current superbike lap record!!
